The Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a national institution responsible for the protection and administration of intellectual property rights within the country. Established by law in September 2004, the Institute operates as an independent state institution and has taken over the tasks related to intellectual property from the Institute for Standards, Metrology and Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BASMP) since January 1, 2007. The Institute handles a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, and copyright and related rights. It also provides services such as pre-diagnostics for intellectual property to assist small and medium-sized companies in assessing their intellectual property strength for development purposes. The Institute is committed to encouraging innovation and maintaining competitiveness in the market by offering legal protection for intellectual property, in compliance with international standards such as the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and EU legislation.
