Oceania

The Intellectual Property Office of the Cook Islands (IPOC) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of intellectual property rights within the country. The Cook Islands, located in the South Pacific, consists of 15 islands and has a unique legal framework for intellectual property. Although there is no specific legislation for trademarks, patents, and designs, registrations made in New Zealand under the 1953 Act or earlier are recognized in the Cook Islands. For trademarks not registered in New Zealand, it is advised to publish a cautionary notice every two years to provide some level of protection.
