Cameroon is a member state of the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OAPI), an intergovernmental institution that specializes in intellectual property in West and Central Africa. OAPI administers a uniform regional system for the protection of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and plant variety rights, across its member states. Cameroon's intellectual property protection can be secured through regional and international routes, both facilitated by OAPI. The country is also party to several international legal instruments such as the Paris Convention, Berne Convention, WIPO Convention, and TRIPS Agreement, demonstrating its commitment to international standards of intellectual property protection.
