The Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI) is a decentralized public body with legal personality and its own assets, and with the legal authority to administer the industrial property system in Mexico. It is the body in charge of the administrative application of the Industrial Property Law (LPI). IMPI manages patents, trademarks, utility models, industrial designs, integrated circuit layout designs, and appellations of origin. It is responsible for the registration and protection of these rights according to Mexican law. Mexico is a member of several international organizations and has signed numerous international agreements and conventions in the field of intellectual property protection, including the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Paris Convention, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and the Hague Agreement. IMPI also engages in international cooperation to enhance the global protection of intellectual property and supports the development of intellectual property strategies and policies.
